Famed for its traditions and its unique culture. It is a country known to have held the rest of the world at bay for hundreds, if not thousands of years, trading sparsely first with the Portuguese, then the Dutch and ultimately the world after encountering Americans).

The lead up to my trip to Japan was one initially inspired by my love of Haruki Murakami, Ryu Murakami, Banana Yoshimoto, Kawabata, Yusio Mishima alongside the company of Akira Kurosawa, Yasujirō Ozu, Ishirō Honda.
