Keyhole Reveries
David Lynch died Today.
It is Friday, January 17th and I've just returned from Japan.
We're only two weeks into 2025 and it feels like much has changed already.
But why rush to react to the death of a celebrity? Why make a project mere hours after finding out?
Lynch's work was, just yesterday we would have said is, often described as dreamlike.
His films have always contained an internal logic all of their own.
As I near 35 years of age, I realize just how rarely daily life makes sense and how dreams and the channeling of dreams in photography and art as a whole, provide countless rafts and reprieves from the illogical nature of life.
Dreams, though sometimes disturbing and often beguiling, contain a certain kind of logic.
Lynch reminds us of this.
Never pretentious, always demure, Lynch reminds us of the importance of dreams, regardless of shape or size.
